Cut down on the ever-destructive under hood heat in the engine compartment without adding complex, hard to install parts.

The M7 Exhaust Heat Shield is custom contoured and fits on top of the factory aluminum heat shield above the exhaust manifold or header of your R50, R52 or R53 MINI Cooper. It was developed in a real world environment and tested using electronic data acquisition equipment. During testing on a loop consisting of mixed driving on the freeway at high rpm and high speeds to generate as much heat as possible and in stop and go traffic on surface streets, the M7 Exhaust Heat Shield reduced under hood temperatures an average of 68 degrees F. The coolant reservoir and the steering pump reservoir stay much cooler, reducing the potential of failure of these components.

Manufactured from aerospace grade insulating materials, the top layer is bright reflective silver thermal fabric with a handsome 3" embroidered M7 logo and the bottom is made of a woven nomex fabric. The main insulating core is made from high performance composite nano-fiber ceramic pad material.

Includes a hardware kit and easy to follow instructions. One hour or less to install makes this a great DIY project.

M7 Didn't Misprint Anything, I Read It Wrong.

In my previous review about a misprint, I was at fault. I mistook 100-in for 100-ft. M7 did a great job with this product and I have logs to back it up.

Just be sure to have a small torque wrench.

Great product so far, Wouldn't use the cover bolt included. Instruction Misprint.

Great product so far and definitely has an effect on engine bay and intake temps. Looks fantastic!

My only gripe is that the supplied replacement valve cover bolt is not worth the risk installing. I slightly cracked my cover, thankfully not affecting the running of the car. It can just be held on with DEI gold thermal tape, not worth the risk damaging the cover.

Also the instructions have a deadly misprint. It says to toqrue the cover bolt to "100 lbs or 12nm". So I set my wrench to 100 and cracked it. Then I realized they probably meant 10lb......too late...

I like the idea that you do not get manifold heat as much in the engine compartment. Because the heat is more on the exhaust pipes it might help with efficacy. Review by trikerb (Posted on 9/30/2019)

The heat blanket fits the vehicle well (R53) and should help to reduce all the unwanted heat in the area over the engine exhaust manifold area. The shield is not gold in color as shown in the pictures, but rather is a silver color (as stated in the product description). this isn't an issue for me, but some customers might be more concerned with appearances. Frankly, not work the money. Spend half of this and wrap your headers. It's great if you plan on driving 65mph the entire time but if you're in stop/go traffic it actually inhibits cooling airflow. Review by wedge (Posted on 11/18/2017)
Seems to have helped reduce under hood temp

I read the specification data for the product, and the reduction in under hood temperature was impressive. I have not attempted to measure on my own, but there does appear to be a noticeable reduction in under hood temp when lifting the hood (bonnet for you Brits!). I am skeptical by nature, but I do believe there is a significant difference and living in FL, any reduction in engine bay temp is helpful for performance and engine life. No longer see the stock turkey roasting pan

I recently bought an R52 as a weekend car. I bought this blanket for two reasons 1. to help reduce heat in the engine compartment for better performance. 2. Hate the way the stock heat shield looks. I don't know by how much the blanket is keeping the engine cooler, but living in the south any heat reduction is good. But I definitely like the clean neat appearance the blanket adds. It no longer looks like someone stuffed an old disposable roasting pan in the engine compartment.
