The M7 MINI Cooper S Cold Air Intake works by sealing a dual stage foam filter inside of a fully enclosed custom manufactured metal housing. The steel box closes off any path for engine heat from getting to the filter, and provides the highest resistance to heat transfer when compared to other intakes on the market.
Our dual stage high flow foam filter can be cleaned and re-oiled providing a lifetime of service on your MINI. The over-sized filter gives plenty of filtering capacity without sacrificing airflow on the supercharged Cooper S. The filter attaches to stock intake piping via a velocity stack at the wall of the M7 CAI with a 3" diameter on the filter side to a 2.75" diameter on the engine side. The velocity stack will smoothen out the large amount of air entering the intake tract, improving air flow which results in a more efficient intake system.
The M7 intake provides the enclosed filter with pressurized, cold air from the cowl area beneath the windshield without requiring you to cut any of your factory parts. This allows your car to be returned completely to stock if needed. With simple hand tools, the intake can quickly be installed on your car allowing you more time to enjoy the ride!

The M7 Speed CAI Performance Intake System can be used on all Gen 1 supercharged MINIs through 2008 model year. This product has received a California Air Resources Board Executive Order (CARB EO) number, exempting it from the prohibitions of California Vehicle Code (CVC) 27156, which states that you cannot modify your car in the area of the emission control system. The C.A.R.B. E.O. #D-766 number allows you to legally use the M7 Speed intake system on your car in all 50 States.

2006 Red JCW S just picked up in September. This CAI exceeds my expectations over the JCW factory installed unit it had when I got it. Perfect fit and straightforward install! Chirp 2nd now and she wants to spin loose to 3rd - major power and response improvement with just this one add. Stop thinking about it...do this!! Installation was fairly simple. Took about an hour taking my time, with no issues with the hardware. The box looks great in the compartment, and the supercharger whine sounds fantastic. Read the instructions twice and watched a YouTube video to get a visual before I began the install on my 2005 R53. Straightforward instructions helped the install go smoothly. Only ran into one problem--could not install the M7 airbox after re-connecting the ECU. The cable for the rear connector blocked the rear panel of the new airbox from meeting up against the firewall. Had to disconnect the rear connector on the ECU in order to get the new airbox to fit in place, then ran the connector cable through the cutout slot on the new airbox back panel to the ECU connector. I'd recommend reversing steps 12 and 13 on the instruction sheet--install the M7 airbox BEFORE re-connecting the ECU. Other than this, everything else went into place perfectly by following the instructions. Fired up the engine and immediately noticed that new sound for the supercharger. Awesome. Received promptly with good follow up. Followed the detailed instructions and although it took some time, it was relatively straightforward and all the parts fit correctly. Main issue was closing the trunk lid with my tools inside after disconnecting the battery. Had to squeeze into the back seat area and find the release. I recently picked up an ’06 R53 MCS and immediately began the process of sorting through all of the mechanicals. After repairing the common issues, it was time to begin the fun part of adding some HP to unleash the little beast. There are a lot of CAI options out there, but options are even less if you are looking for a quality-made CARB-certified box that improves on the original design of the factory unit. I found this to be a big plus especially since I live in California.Quality Value Would Recommend
The installation is basically straight forward and the “Exact-Fit” as stated by M7 makes it that much easier. The 2.75” diameter connection on the engine side allowed the factory rubber boot to fit properly, no stretching, and without issues, Nice! As a plus, I was able to reuse my factory BMW clamps for that clean look. M7, however, does supply all of the necessary hardware including the screw clamps for the boot as well as the larger intake tube for the high flow foam filter.
Summary: Nice fit, quality made box, high-grade foam filter exceeded my expectations, looks great, and performs/sounds even better. Mash the throttle and the SC R53 becomes a big whiner thanks to M7!
